I snuck in a bit of a baking day today - hubby is off work and so he is in charge of the kiddos.
Yet another iteration of the cardamom bun - Voisilmapulla - these needed more proving time but it was my first attempt so I’m not overly fussed. And they taste 👌.
Woop-woop! Here are yesterday’s Semla: these are cardamom buns (pulla) pimped up for Shrove Tuesday. Mine have the addition of a homemade almond paste and some whipped cream. They were DeeeLightful.
My starter has performed well today. I’ve now made a stiff levain for sourdough loaves that I’ll fettle tomorrow and bake on Thursday.
Today was the day the marmalade was made.
Oh my days. I only went and made DOUGHNUTS today. Wowsers. It’s been on my baking to-do list for years. So scrummy. These are maybe a bit too big, and simply rolled in cinnamon sugar. I followed another excellent recipe from ‘Brilliant Bread’ by @bakingjames. It’s like going back in time, eating these, and tasting what people would have tasted before the advent of factory food.
